This segmented wood vessel was designed around a stunningly spalted piece of maple, that is set off by purpleheart, bubinga and wenge.

Spalting happens when a tree is dying or has already fallen to the ground. As fungus starts to invade the wood, it demarcates lines around its area, as if to tell other fungus to keep out. Sometimes it adds some subtle coloring too. The dark lines on a pale wood like maple are visually striking, making a piece like Nature's Voice so attractive. All wood is essentially one-of-a-kind because grain patterns are so unique, but spalting adds another layer of specialness because you'll never find two pieces that look the same.

Nature's Voice is BIG, standing 19 inches tall and 18 inches in diameter. Finished with lacquer for a glossy shine.
